Ryan Gosling recently revealed that the team behind The Fall Guy already have a sequel in mind, should they get the chance to make it.

Speaking to Fast Company recently, Gosling was asked about the potential for a sequel. In a surprise reply, the Oscar-nominated actor revealed that a sequel was “sort of wrote itself” once they were done.

“The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately,” Gosling said. “We’re just hoping that people like this movie enough that we get to keep telling the story of these characters. We love them so much, and we love this world, and I feel confident that we can do it.”

The actor went on to say that the sequel stemmed from them wanting to know what happened to the characters themselves, and in the words of Gosling, hopefully audiences do as well.

“Oh yeah. We already—I mean, we love these characters so much that we wanted to know, just for ourselves, what happens to Colt and [Emily Blunt’s character] Jody after the movie ends? What’s the next phase for them? And we know exactly what it is,” said Gosling. “So hopefully the audience wants to know, too.”

What is The Fall Guy about?

“He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment,” the film’s synopsis reads. “And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”

Loosely based on the 1980s television series of the same name, The Fall Guy is directed and produced by David Leitch from screenplay written by Drew Pearce. Alongside Gosling and Blunt, the film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Stephanie Hsu. In addition to starring, Gosling is serving as a producer alongside Kelly McCormick and Guymon Casady, while Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and Glen A. Larson, who created the original Fall Guy series, serve as executive producers.
