Mikel Obi injured during win over Tanzania

Captain of the Super Eagles, Mikel John Obi, sustained an unspecified injury during the 1-0 win over Tanzania on Saturday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The Chelsea midfielder was replaced in the 63rd minute by Wilfred Ndidi.

“Mikel asked to be replaced because he was injured and I took the precaution to do so because I did not want to hurt the club and the player,” Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, said.


The German, however, did not go into details of the injury.

Mikel Obi was deployed in a free attacking role against the Taifa Stars and was denied a goal by the impressive Aishi Manula who was in goal for Tanzania.
