FIFA to pay $200m compensation to European clubs for World Cup

FIFA will pay European clubs $200 million compensation for players who take part in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, the governing body announced Friday.

The accord with the European Club Association could end demands for compensation for changing the dates of the 2022 Qatar World Cup to November-December.

The figure is substantially higher than the $70 million handed out to clubs around the world following the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
