NPFL Match Day 30: Heartland return to winning ways against Nasarawa United

The Naze Millionaires helped their course to avoid relegation to the lower league with a morale-lifting win against the Solid Miners
Sunshine Stars 2-0 Niger Tornadoes
Sunshine Stars defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-0 in Saturday's Nigeria Professional Football League match at the Akure Township Stadium.
A goal in each half by Michael Egbeta and Samad Kadiri helped the Owena Waves to their 11th win of the campaign.
Tornadoes came into the match on the back of a 2-1 morale boosting result over Abia Warriors.
With the result, Sunshine Stars climbed to 4th in the NPFL table with 43 points from 28 matches, while Niger Tornadoes slide to 14th with 36 points.

Plateau United 2-0 FC Ifeanyi Ubah
Plateau United picked up their 10th win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
The win moved the Jos side up to 11th in the league standings, while the Anambra Warriors whose seven-match unbeaten run was halted are 10th on the log.
Plateau United failed to threaten the Anambra Warriors' goal in the opening 10 minutes despite having most of the possession.
Zachary Baraje's Plateau United took the lead 12 minutes on the clock, as an unmarked Kabiru Umar tapped home Anayo Ogbonna's inviting pass.
Plateau United were certainly full of value for their 1-0 lead and took control of the game.
The home side then sealed the result in the 40th minute, as Benjamin Turba popped up at the back post to side-foot into the net.

Heartland FC 1-0 Nasawara United
Heartland FC brought themselves back into reckoning to beat the drop after a 1-0 slim result over Nasarawa United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium.
Chidiebere Ajoku scored the only goal of the NPFL clash in the first half to seal the victory for the Naze Millionaires in Owerri.
A rebranded Heartland team had their chances though, particularly in the first half when they ran their opponents ragged.
Bright Ejike was lively in the opening period, flashing a shot straight at Suraj Ayeleso in the fourth minute.
However, Nasarawa United were stung ten minutes to the end of the first half when Abubakar Jika whipped a cross that was headed into the net by Ajoku.

El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 Rivers United
El-Kanemi Warriors edged Rivers United 1-0 at the El-Kanemi Sports Stadium to dent their title hopes.
The Desert Warriors started much the better of the two teams but chances were few and far between.
It was Warriors' Japhet Mathias with the first decent chance of the match, as his free kick was saved by goalkeeper Abiodun Akande.

Yet the deadlock would be broken by the home side when Ohanachom picked out his spot and buried the ball into the far corner.

There were little chances of note as the referee signalled for the end of the match in Maiduguri.

The result meant Warriors got back to winning ways after two losses in a row with Rivers United still in third spot.

Abia Warriors 0-0 Akwa United
An undaunted ten-man Akwa United secured a goalless draw against Abia Warriors at a soaked Umuahia Township Stadium.
It was the fourth time that Warriors failed to win in the last five matches.
The homers couldn't capitalise on a numerical advantage after Chigozie Chilekwu was sent off for an off the ball incident in the 67th minute.

The victory moves Akwa United to eighth, with Abia Warriors sinking down to 15th position in the log.
