A hospital worker who stabbed his Gumtree flatmate to death because she refused to have s*x left a chilling note saying sorry to his mum.

According to The Mirror, Gary Stevenson left the letter and a suicide note at their flat in Glasgow where he knifed fashion buyer, Katy Rourke to death.

Both were scribbled before he fled the scene on December 29 last year, the Daily Record reports.

Stevenson - who was jailed for life this week - apologised to mum Anne Stevenson, 48, of Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, for the distress his crime would cause her. His other message asked for his remains to be cremated.

Stevenson, 27, choked and battered Katy, 25, before stabbing her three times the High Court in Glasgow heard. The victim from Dundee, moved into the flat two weeks before she died.

He was arrested in North Berwick, East Lothian, after he tried to kill himself by cutting his wrists.

More details of the incident has revealed that Stevenson had a reputation as a violent sex pest while at university. And chilling footage emerged showing him telling a pal off for filming him on his phone, saying: "Stop videoing people. It’s unnerving. I’m not going to kick off and stab anyone."

Then, in a voice like Sir David Attenborough’s, Stevenson added: "All it takes is one thing... and then it springs from the step and kills someone."
A court heard how he confessed to police telling them: "I stabbed her. I think it was three times."

He told officers: "If it wasn't her, it would have been someone else.

"I just want to tell the truth for the sake of the family."

Stevenson also admitted hitting Katy repeatedly before the knife attack saying: "I lost control we had a disagreement.

"I started to hit her and I didn't stop.

"I just kept goin' an' goin and goin, goin"

Stevenson when questioned by police he said that her and Katy had been drinking and he claimed one thing led to another and they had sex. He told police that later when he woke Katy up and asked her to have sex with him again she refused because she had work in the morning.

Angry because she refused, he lost control and attacked her, hitting her before using a knife to kill her. He punched her repeatedly in the face and put his hands round her throat.

He told police: "She started fighting back so that's when I took a knife from the kitchen and used that to make sure she stopped moving, that's it.

"I've never been in trouble for violence. But when I did lose control, it just felt like there was nothing to stop me.

"There were no moral boundaries left in my life."
