Mourinho calls for video technology in football

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has said football must adpot video technology, because the stakes are too high in the game.

FIFA is currently carrying out a two-year trial, to see if it can use the technology during games.

It was in use last month during the World Club Championship in Japan, where it drew criticism from Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane.

But Mourinho is all in support of the technology, as he feels human error must not result in loss of trophies and prize money.

He told FIFA.com: “We all need it. Professionals can’t lose or win matches and titles because of a refusal of this evolution.

“Sponsors, owners and investors must feel that technology is there. Also, referees especially need and deserve protection.

“They need the technology to help them, protect them and to support them.”

The Premier League has been conducting their own trials at IMG studios in London.
