An articulated vehicle, last Thursday, crushed two men at the Kubwa axis of the express road linking Zuba in Abuja, injuring scores of road side hawkers.

The accident, which occurred at about 8a.m., according to eyewitnesses, said the trailer lost control when the driver tried to avoid hitting the FCT transport service bus at the second gate axis of Kubwa.


Driver of the truck, with number plates ABC 822 XJ, is now in police custody.


According to a police source, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at Kubwa General Hospital, while those with minor injuries have been attended to and discharged from hospital.


The source said an investigation had begun to ascertain the cause of the accident and owner of the truck.


He said the investigations would lead to discovering identities of the deceased, while their family members would be contacted as quickly as possible.
