Manchester City charged for failing to control players against Liverpool

The Football Association has charged Manchester City for allegedly failing to control their players during their 1-1 draw with Liverpool this Sunday.

Some of the players surrounded referee Michael Oliver, after he awarded the Reds a penalty just after half time.

Roberto Firmino was fouled in the area by Gael Clichy, as he burst through following a high pass from Emre Can.

“It is alleged that in or around the 50th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion,” an FA statement read.

The charge comes after city rivals Manchester United were recently fined for the same offence.

City has until 6pm local time on Thursday to respond to the charge.
