Rio 2016 Olympics: Dream Team VI defeat Honduras to win bronze

Nigeria’s U-23 team, on Saturday won the country’s first medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil, after defeating Honduras 3-2 in the third-place match of the men’s football competition.
Sadiq Umar opened the scoring in the first half, sliding home after great work from captain Mikel John Obi.

His namesake, Aminu Umar, made it 2-0 four minutes after the restart, before Sadiq finished calmly again to extend the Dream Team VI’s lead.


Honduras scored twice in the latter stages of the match, but it was not enough, as Samson Siasia’s men won the contest.
