Arsene Wenger Hails 'Relentless' Alexis Sanchez As Arsenal Win At Watford

Arsene Wenger has praised Alexis Sanchez's "relentless" attacking ability as the Chile international continued his impressive goal scoring run in Arsenal's 3-0 victory at Watford on Saturday.

Sanchez, 26, was a minor doubt for the trip to Vicarage Road with a hip injury, but returned to Arsenal's starting XI following international duty to score the first of the Gunners' three goals -- his 10th in six games for club and country.

Wenger was pleased with the forward's performance and that of his teammates as the North London team secured back-to-back 3-0 victories -- shocking Manchester United last Sunday -- ahead of Tuesday's Champions League test against Bayern Munich.

"Alexis Sanchez is relentless going forward," Wenger told BBC Sport. "He always looks dangerous and he is always dangerous.

He is very important for us.
"It was an important win for us. You could see why Watford have not conceded many goals at home.

They are strong and very direct and we could not make a mistake.
"When we scored the first goal I like the fact we were relentless and continued to attack.

The confidence is there and once we were 1-0 up or 2-0 up we continued to play and attack.

Physically and mentally the game became more difficult for Watford as well and we took advantage of that.

Sanchez opened the scoring against Watford before Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey secured the win to send Arsenal second above United on goal difference, and two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

With Bayern next on the agenda, Wenger was asked why he played a first-choice team.

For me, the important game was today," he added. "To win today was vital to stay in touch with the top teams and for us it's the best way to prepare for Tuesday night.

There is no obvious reason to change the team. Maybe one or two but I don't know yet. I could rest Ozil and Sanchez. We have to put pace into this game, to play against a big team.

We want to make something against Bayern, because that's the only way we can stay in the race.
