Yesterday, members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) have staged anti-Rochas Okorocha rally to protest the governor’s opposition to the Biafra struggle.

At the rally which took place in major streets of Owerri, the Imo state capital, scores of pro-Biafra agitators chanted derogatory song against the of Governor Okorocha for refusing to back their cause, Guardian reports One of the leaders of the group, King David, accused the governor of opposing the Biafra struggle for selfish reasons. He said the agitation for the creation of Biafra Republic was very much on course.

The agitators happily displayed their flags, urging the residents to identify with them.

Recalls that Governor Rochas Okorocha had described most of the agitators calling for the sovereign state of Biafra as frustrated people who are just venting their frustration.


The Imo state governor also said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, lacks the ability and influence to lead the Igbo nation to war.


Speaking to journalist in Abuja on Thursday, June 29, Okorocha urged Nigerians to treat Kanu as a young man seeking relevance.
