Neymar becomes world’s highest-paid footballer
Neymar is now the highest-paid footballer in the world, after signing a new five-year deal with Barcelona.
The Brazilian forward has ended speculation over his future, by agreeing a bumper deal with the Catalan club.
According to Spanish daily newspaper, Marca, Neymar will now earn €25m per year after tax, eclipising Lionel Messi’s €22m annual income.
Neymar has three buyout clauses included in his new contract which will expire in 2021. The value is fixed at €200 million for the first year of the deal, €222m for the second and €250m for the remaining three years.
