How will PSG line up with Jese?

After the forward completed a €25 million move from Real Madrid to the Parc des Princes on Monday, Goal takes a look at how the 23-year-old could operate for the French champion...

"The market is closed". Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says the club will not bring in any more players this summer. And referring to director of football Patrick Kluivert, he said: "He won't be happy, but we're fine. We have many great players."

The latest of those is Jese. The Spanish forward arrives from Real Madrid in a €25 million deal and sees PSG finalise their summer spending with a forward after Zlatan Ibrahimovic left to join Manchester United earlier in the window. "Ibrahimovic is a great player, but I have come here to progress," the new arrival said on Monday. "To work, work, work."

Coach Unai Emery will he happy to hear those words and the 23-year-old will join a host of talented attackers already at the club: Edinson Cavani, Javier Pastore, Angel Di Maria and Hatem Ben Arfa. "I can play in the four forward positions," Jese said at his unveiling on Monday. "The coach will choose."

With Ibrahimovic no longer at the club, PSG needed to bring in a forward player able to operate in the role of a central striker, to provide support and also competition to Edinson Cavani in that role. Last season, Jese started two matches for Real Madrid in the centre-forward position, scoring one goal and setting up another. The player's main weakness in this slot is his lack of aerial ability and he would not be used as a target man, but he has pace and is a good finisher, giving Emery another alternative to the Uruguayan up front.

Jese could also start on the left for PSG. This is the position where he feels most at ease, but he saw his opportunities limited there at Real Madrid due to the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

If used on the wing, the 23-year-old can create space for the full-backs to attack and in that respect he is ideal for Emery, who wants his wide players to attack and also to form a good understanding with their team-mate down that side of the pitch.

The Spaniard could also operate on the right. His pace and dribbling ability mean he is ideally suited to a wide role and he can exploit spaces in this position. With Angel Di Maria the usual starter on the right, Jese looks more likely to fill in on the opposite flank, but he can come in for the Argentine when necessary or even replace Javier Pastore in a central berth.

Jese's flexibility means he will be a useful player for Emery and even if he is not a starter, he is a man who can come on in any of the front four positions at PSG, meaning he is likely to be given many opportunities at his new team in 2016-17.
