Two men arrested for raping fruit seller in Lagos [PHOTO]

Two men have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a 23-year-old girl (names withheld), who hawks pawpaw.

The suspects, identified as Ezekiel Yusuf, 29, and Musa Abubakar, 25, lured the pawpaw seller to an apartment along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on the pretence that they wanted to buy pawpaw.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a confirmatory statement, said the victim was hawking sliced pawpaw fruit along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, when Yusuf Ezekiel lured her into his apartment pretending he wanted to buy pawpaw from her.

“It was while she was shouting that the people around came to her rescue and subsequently reported to the police.

“The DPO of Ojodu Abiodun, SP Bamidele Job, quickly dispatched detectives to the scene and two suspects were promptly arrested.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, for further investigation and prosecution,” the PPRO added.
