Euro 2016: Germany knock Italy out to qualify for semi-final

Germany are through to the semi-final of the European Championship, where they will take on hosts France or Iceland, after triumphing 6-5 on penalties over Italy.
Mesut Ozil had given his Joachim Low’s men the lead in the second half, but Leonardo Bonucci equalized from the spot for Italy, after Jerome Boateng’s handball.

There were no goals in extra time and the round of 16 clash was decided on penalties.

Both teams missed three times, before Manuel Neuer beat away Matteo Darmian’s effort in the ninth round. Jonas Hector stepped up to send the world champions into the last four.
