Must Read: Love Diary

We entered the BMW and drove out. It was Valentine’s Day and the streets of Pretoria were filled with lovely colours of white and red.

We took a stroll at the beautiful Magnolia Deli Park. The whole place was crowded with couples both young and old. We strolled through the lush gardens surrounding the Union buildings. The lawn, flowers and trees in the garden provided us with a lovely haven of calmness. From there, we drove to Pretoria Art Museum. I was moved by the intense personal expression. I didn’t know she has interest in art.

“What did you study in school?”I asked as we walked hand in hand along the road leading to Fort Klapperkop.

“Fine and Applied Arts,” she said.

I was surprised. Of course, there is something artistic about the way she does things.

I was glad that I was sharing the most beautiful moment in my life with someone so special to me. I was where I wanted to be with the woman that completes me in a way I never thought possible.

“Honey look.” She said. She was looking at the sky.

I looked up and together we watched the sun set over the Voortrekker monument. It was so beautiful. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner at the National Zoological garden.

We came back to the house by 7 in the evening.

As she was showering in her bathroom, I entered her room. Everything appeared pink and female except for the red Persian rug.

Nothing was out of order. Then I saw boxes under her king sized bed.

What are inside them?

I bent down and began to open them and was amazed at what I saw. There were sketches of drawings. One carbon paper was filled with dress sketches. Omo, she can draw. I saw Arise fashion magazine. As I was going through the contents, she came out on her towel.

“You drew all these?” I asked in wonder.

“Yes,”her response was not audible.
She was shy. Her confidence has gone.
She doesn’t just have the beauty, she has the brains. “Honey, this is awesome. You can build a great career on this.”

“All my life, I have been fascinated with art and fashion. At school, I learnt all I could about form, proportion, drawing and colour composition. When I felt I had outgrown the age of being a model, I began to nurture the dream of being a fashion designer,” she said as she began to put on her dress.

“Honey, this is a nice portfolio. I know a good female fashion designer based in Lagos.

We will send this portfolio to the House of Marcy and if they like it, you will do an internship with them and from there, you will get all the experience you need.” I said.

“Really? You will do that for me?” she asked.

“Yes.”I said as I closed the boxes and stood up.” she rushed me and kissed me gently.

“Thank you.” she said. Her face beamed.

“Darling, we are in this together.” I promised.

As I was holding her in my arms, I could picture her in my future. I can’t stand a future without her in it.

Now I don’t know what I will do without her
