Must Read: Love Diary

“Thank you so much doctor,” I said, “Please, can you show me where my wife and the baby are? This whole place is so confusing to me.” I said happily. I can’t wait to see the rest of my family.

The doctor’s smile widened, “Yes of course.

They are now in the recovery room,” he said. “In fact, let me lead the way.”

The doctor collected his white coat from where he hanged it on his chair and put it on. We left the office. We entered another hallway and cut into a long corridor. He stopped in front of a door with the inscription, ‘Recovery Room.’ He pushed the door inside and the huge door opened. The cry of a baby filled my ears. We entered inside the room. Nurses in blue tunic filled the room. I looked around and saw my wife and the baby with the midwife nurse who was attending to her. My heart leapt with joy.
“We have performed the most important evaluation. Other procedures will be postponed for now,” the midwife nurse was saying, “Madam, now is a great time for you to bond with your baby. Now hold your baby skin to skin to your chest and start the breastfeeding,” she instructed calmly.

The baby was still crying. Samantha saw me immediately and her face beamed. She appeared weak. She was sitting on the bed. I don’t need the doctor’s help again. I thanked him and he greeted my wife and the nurses and went back to his office. I approached my wife and sat on a folding chair beside her bed.
“Kiddo! Daddy is here.” She said as she held the baby on her chest and began to breastfeed her.

Immediately the baby began to sU-Ck her mother’s b0s0m, she stopped crying. I gazed at my wife as she continued with the breastfeeding. There were still drops of tears around the corners of her eyes. I can’t begin to imagine all that she passed through today.
I smiled at her.

She smiled back at me.

Oh! There is nothing more beautiful than a smile that had fought through tears.
“You are here,” she said appreciatively. She has finished breastfeeding our daughter.
“Yes,” I said. I can feel the love in her voice.
She was so happy.
“Sweetheart, how are you doing?” I asked.
“A little bit tired but fine.”
“You are looking great sweetheart,” I assured her, “the nurses here, they will provide you with all the help you need. You are recovering fast already.”
“I am here. I am not going anywhere.” I added.

She nodded and held my hand. She kissed the baby on the forehead mouthing words that only she and the baby understand.
“Kiddo, let me hand you over to daddy,” she said as she placed the baby in my arms. I carried the baby, my baby daughter and looked into her eyes. She has the same eyes as her mother, with soft black hair, little fingers and little toes and the cutest nose. At that instant, my heart was filled with joy. She was so beautiful, so innocent. She smiled and chuckled; very smart baby. Somehow, she knew she was in the arms of her father. She felt so safe in my arms. So cute.Fair and lovely. I kissed her on her forehead. Oh! I just want time to stand still so that I can take time to enjoy every second of this lovely moment.



I handed the baby over to my wife. She placed the baby on her chest and intertwined my fingers with hers.

As I held Samantha’s hand, I realized that I am a father at last and I am not going to take this gift for granted.

Love started it all, with a first encounter that changed our lives. Now, we are holding in our hands, a new life, a new beginning.


I felt so proud because right now, with my complete family by my side, the world has become a much better place. It’s the three of us against the world and the love that will help us to conquer it all.
